The HEADS project were delighted to host 2 mini-symposia and a Poster session at the 8th World Congress of Biomechanics that was held at Dublin's Convention Centre from 8th - 12th July 2018.
ESRs Michio clark and Antonia Trotta represented the HEADS team again this year at the annual UCD Festival. Our helmet making workshop was a great hit again!
The HEADS team were invited again this year to present their research to budding young engineers at UCD's Transition Year event. Dr Aisling Ni Annaidh explained our research to over 40 students and engaged them in hands on activities at the session.
Our KTH ESR, Reza Mohommadi, and supervisor, Dr Madelen Fahlstedt, participated in the 2018 Brain Festival.
HEADS ESR Thomas Connor spoke at the 2017 British Equestrian Trade Association conference about equestrian accidents, helmet damage and head injury.
Dr Aisling Ni Annaidh brought the HEADS research to 1st and 2nd years at Gaelcholáiste an Phiarsaigh Secondary School in Dublin.
Antonia Trotta, Michio Clark, Chen Ling and Tom Connor spent 4 days presenting their research to the public at our biggest Outreach event to date.
ESRs, Antonia Trotta, Lilibeth Zambrano Martinez and Chen Ling participated in this year's event again. Trinity College Dublin hosted the night which is part of the EU's European Researchers night initiative.
The HEADS team is delighted to announce that they will be hosting a Mini-Symposium on Head Impact Biomechanics and Head Protection at the 8th World Congress of Biomechanics which takes place in Dublin in July 2018. The abstract submission deadline is December 19th, 2017.
Following Professor Michael Gilchrist and Michio Clark's (ESR 1) attendance at the BETA Helmet Bounty Scheme research meeting in June 2017, an article describing the impact and relevance of their research to the equestrian world appears in ETN (Equestrian Trade News).
Dr Aisling Ni Annaidh, Lilibeth Zambrano Martinez (ESR 4) and Michio Clark (ESR 1) took part in this year's Transition Year Event at UCD.
The popular event is subscribed to by students who have an interest in pursuing Engineering at 3rd level.

Annaclaudia Montanino (ESR 8) took part in the Tekla festival at KTH where she gave a workshop on ultrasounds and helmet designs.
The festival which targets young girls aged between 11 and 15 years of age, aims to inspire this age group with technologically inspired workshops.
The 2 nd UCD Festival took place on Saturday, June 10th 2017. Dr Aisling Ni Annaidh and Michio Clark presented the HEADS research at the event as part of the Science and Innovation Zone.

Our first HEADS Conference took place at KTH-Stockholm, Sweden on November 22nd, 2016
The HEADS Early Stage Researchers and representatives from all 6 partners convened in Stockholm to meet with the HEADS EU Project Officer & expert Dr. Dominique Cesari for our Midterm Review.
The successful review took place on the 21stand 22ndNovember 2016.
A review aimed at parties eager to gain a better understanding of current helmet standards and technology was completed by our industry ESRs Tom Connor, Shiyang Meng and Dimitris Zouzias. Antonia Trotta and Chen Ling took part in Researcher's Night 2016 that was held in Trinity College Dublin in September 2016. The diverse world of academic research gathered to present their research projects to the public.
Prof. Michael Gilchrist, Prof. Svein Kleiven, Prof. Jos Vander Sloten, Michio Clark, Tom Connor and Vanessa Thomson completed a guide outlining the type of real-world data that should be collected in order to both describe and reconstruct accidents. This guide was motivated by the need for improved accident data for head and brain injuries.Read More
All 13 HEADS Early Stage Researchers will attend the International Brain Mechanics and Truama Lab Winter School in École de Physique des Houches, France.
The week long workshop was held from the 14 thto the 19 thFebruary 2016.
During the week, the students attended lectures and seminars such as "Biomechanics of traumatic head injuries", "Brain electrochemistry" and "Multiscale computational mechanobiology of TBI and SCI " to name but a few.

The HEADS kick-off meeting took place on Monday February 2 ndfrom 10am to 4pm in Dublin Airport.
